With some 639,400 inhabitants, Dusseldorf is the state capital and the second-largest city in North Rhine-Westphalia. The unemployment rate fell in December by -0.4 percentage points to 6.5% compared to December 2017. Almost 409,200 employees subject to social insurance are registered. The current economic situation is solid. Expectations for 2019 have weakened slightly against the background of international economic uncertainties, according to one of the results of Dusseldorf’s Konjunkturmonitor 2019.
